DHL Express Greece, in afforestation action on the island of Spetses!
In spite of the adverse weather conditions and with a good ally, over 50 volunteer employees of DHL Express Greece, Spetsiot residents, elementary school and high school students and many other citizens participated in the reforestation of Spetses on Sunday, February 4, 2018.
Tree planting was an initiative of the Spetses mini Marathon Organizing Committee in collaboration with the Municipality of Spetses, under the approval of the competent Forestry Office and with the support of SKI's "All Together We Can". It took place 2.5 km in the ring road of the island, on a familiar and beloved route for the participants of the games that Spetses mini marathon organizes on the island. A cluster of the Poros Forestry Forest, as well as foresters of the Athens Philanthropic Union, the country's oldest environmental club, gave instructions to plant the 1200 trees gathered by the participants. DHL Express, in the context of the "One, two tree" global initiative, which aims to plant 1,000,000 trees all over the globe in 2018, has contributed substantially to this effort, both in the transport of trees and a large number workers who voluntarily traveled from Athens to help.
After the completion of the tree planting, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Spetses mini Marathon Dr. Marina-Lyda Koutarellli said: "We would like to give a big" thumbs-up "to all those who participated in the noble cause of reforestation of our favorite island, the Municipality, the Spetses, the volunteers, the schools of the island and the citizens. We feel extremely happy about their presence. "
